Hosted PAC Files
Proxy auto-config (PAC) files are used by the Forcepoint Web Security Endpoint client to direct web traffic to the Dynamic Edge Protection proxy service.
A PAC file is a configuration script used by the Forcepoint Endpoint client to define the proxy settings that are used for certain types of outbound traffic. PAC files identify the proxy forwarding address that is used, and typically include a set of Internet addresses that are configured for direct access (IP addresses or domains that will not be proxied). These non-proxied addresses typically include trusted sites such as those used for Windows updates, and domains used by Forcepoint services.
The Forcepoint PAC file redirects web (HTTP/HTTPS) requests to the service on port 8080.
The Hosted PAC Files page provides the URL used to retrieve the default Forcepoint PAC file for your account. This URL is required as part of endpoint installation. Click a PAC file in the list to view its details, or to download the PAC file to view its contents.
PAC files are retrieved via the standard ports for HTTP (80) or HTTPS (443). Accessing PAC files via the secure (HTTPS) URL is recommended for additional security.
