Version 7.6 of Websense Web Security Gateway Anywhere supports the upload of customized PAC files or PAC file fragments and a custom block page logo to the hybrid service. These files are held in the Sync Service data directory (
bin/ssdata) and are not backed up by the Websense Backup Utility, as they are not configuration files generated by Websense software.
Back up the contents of the ssdata directory manually to a location of your choice.
If you are using a customized PAC file or block page logo and run the Backup Utility in restore mode with your existing version of Web Security Gateway Anywhere, the contents of the
ssdata directory remain intact, if present. This is because the restore process overwrites only the files in its archive and leaves other files unchanged.
If you use a backup to restore settings to a new or upgraded version of Web Security Gateway Anywhere, you must manually copy the
ssdata directory and its contents to the Websense
bin directory as soon as the restore process is complete. The config.xml file keeps a record of when Sync Service last sent a custom PAC file or block page logo to the hybrid service; if Sync Service cannot detect the required files in the ssdata directory, it assumes the files are no longer needed and sends a 'delete' message to the hybrid service.
