TRITON Management Server

TRITON Manager can be run on one of the following 64-bit Windows operating systems:

Windows Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise R2

Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition

Windows Server 2012 Standard or Enterprise R2

If you are running an on-appliance TRITON Manager (Web module only) in v7.7.x, for v7.8.x and later you must move TRITON Manager to a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server or a Windows 2012 server in your network. For more information, see Moving from an appliance to software.

Note the following for Windows Server 2012:

If you plan to run SQL Server 2008 R2 Express on the TRITON management server, you must install Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5 on the server before starting the TRITON installation. For more details, refer to: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh506443.aspx.

If you plan to support more than one language version of TRITON Manager, you must add .NET Framework v3.5 binaries before adding any language packs. This order ensures that .NET Framework 3.5 language resources are installed correctly and available to users and applications. For more details, refer to: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh975396.aspx.

If you plan to run the TRITON installation off-network, ensure Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5 is available on the server before starting the installation.

Please note that Windows Server 2003 is no longer supported.

If you have another browser or version, the management interface may behave in unexpected ways or report an error.

Virtualization systems

All TRITON Manager components are supported on these virtualization systems:

Hyper-V over Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 R2, Standard Edition

VMware over Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 R2, Standard Edition

Note that this support is for TRITON Manager only. Other components (used for filtering, analysis, reporting, or enforcement) may have additional requirements that are not supported by these virtualization environments.

Directory services for administrator authentication

If you allow users to log on to TRITON Manager using their network accounts, the following directory services can be used to authenticate administrator logons:

Microsoft Active Directory

Novell eDirectory

Lotus Notes

Oracle Directory Services

Generic LDAP directories

TRITON database

The following databases are required for TRITON APX products:

TRITON Settings Database

This is a Postgres database that contains TRITON configuration and infrastructure data. It is always installed on the TRITON Management Server machine.

TRITON Reporting Database

This is a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Standard or Enterprise) or 2012 database that contains reporting and logging data for all installed TRITON modules. It also holds TRITON AP-DATA policy, fingerprint, and forensics data.

In smaller networks, the reporting database (Microsoft SQL Server Express only) can be installed on the TRITON Management Server machine. You make this choice during installation.

As a free database management option for small deployments, SQL Server 2008 R2 Express is provided with TRITON APX products.

The supported database engines for TRITON AP-WEB. TRITON AP-DATA, and TRITON AP-EMAIL solutions are:

SQL Server 2008

All editions except Web, Express, and Compact; all service packs, 32- and 64-bit, but not IA64.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (installed by the TRITON Unified Installer)

SQL Server 2008 R2

All editions except Web and Compact; all service packs, 32- and 64-bit, but not IA64.
