Selecting advanced file analysis platform

Advanced file analysis is a cloud-hosted or on-premises sandbox for the inspection of email file attachments. The cloud function is available only if your subscription includes Forcepoint Advanced Malware Detection for Email - Cloud. The on-premises sandbox is available only if you have purchased a separate Forcepoint Advanced Malware Detection for Email - On-Premises system.

A cloud-hosted Advanced Malware Detection - Cloud sandbox examines the file types specified in the Main > Policy Management > Filters > Advanced File Analysis filter page. The on-premises Advanced Malware Detection - On-Premises file analysis system inspects a larger set of file types than the cloud sandbox, though not all file types may be supported.

Use the following steps to set the advanced file analysis platform:

In the Settings > General > Advanced File Analysis page, select a platform from the File analysis platform drop-down list (Advanced Malware Detection - Cloud or Advanced Malware Detection - On-Premises).

If you selected Advanced Malware Detection - On-Premises, enter the Controller appliance IP address (prod1 [P] interface) in the Controller IP address field.

Click the Check Status button to verify the connection to the Advanced Malware Detection - Cloud Controller appliance.

Click OK to save your platform settings.
