Core product naming for 8.x:
- TRITON AP-WEB
- TRITON AP-EMAIL
- TRITON AP-DATA
- TRITON AP-ENDPOINT
When you are ready to upgrade, your core product name for 8.x will be the same across all platforms (cloud, on-premises, hybrid).
Web protection customers who wish to upgrade and who do not yet deploy Content Gateway will upgrade to Web Filter & Security 8.0.1.
You retain the subscribed functionality that you have today when you choose to upgrade to 8.x.
Your existing, valid subscription keys continue to work as expected.
In general, when you choose to upgrade to version 8.x from version 7.8.x:
- Web Filter upgrades to Web Filter & Security 8.0.1.
- Web Security (with no gateway) upgrades to Web Filter & Security 8.0.1.
- Web Security Gateway upgrades to TRITON AP-WEB.
- Email Security Gateway upgrades to TRITON AP-EMAIL.
- Data Security Suite upgrades to TRITON AP-DATA.
- Web Endpoint upgrades to TRITON AP-ENDPOINT Web.
- Data Endpoint upgrades to TRITON AP-ENDPOINT DLP.

The name changes reflect the strong protections you’ve come to rely on.
- Cloud enforcement, on-premises enforcement, and hybrid setups now use the same product name at 8.0.
- When you add more capabilities in the future, your core product remains the same.
- Expanded capabilities are now offered as optional modules that can easily be subscribed as add-ons.
- Easily add modules over time, as your needs change, in whatever sequence makes the most sense for you.
You may continue to use your current version of our products with your valid subscription key. Valid subscriptions continue to work as expected. Your site may wish to upgrade to take advantage of features and corrections included in the new version.

Yes. Backward compatibility is maintained for Log Databases created with versions 7.8.x, 7.7.x, and 7.6.x.
You can set up a test network for TRITON APX 8.x products if desired, while your production network runs an earlier version.
Your current features continue to function with your current subscription key, after you upgrade to TRITON APX 8.x. As well, you may benefit from the latest corrections and features.
