Basic steps
Although the steps for your use case may vary, the basic steps for setting up directory synchronization follow:
In the cloud

Set up authentication for the client machine. The client should have its own username and password to gain access to the cloud service.
On the client

Download the Directory Synchronization Client (see Client tasks) and install it on a network client machine. Download the client administrator's guide as well. This contains valuable information on helping you integrate your directory service with the cloud service.

If a synchronization is unsuccessful, you can use the Restore feature to restore the directory information to a previous version. (See Restore directories for more information.)
