Documentation Overview

This paper shows you how to set up and configure the Websense components that handle Remote Filtering.

Remote Filtering allows Websense Web Security and Websense Web Filter to filter URL requests on laptops and other computers that are outside your organization's network.

Remote Filtering uses these Websense components:

Remote Filtering Client: installed on each machine to be filtered outside the network. This client is configured to communicate with Remote Filtering Server.
Remote Filtering Server: resides inside your firewall and acts as a proxy to Websense Filtering Service.

All communication between Remote Filtering Client and Remote Filtering Server is authenticated and encrypted.
