In addition to helping bloggers eradicate comment spam, Defensio is also capable of thwarting the increasing number of security threats being introduced and propagated via the user-generated content that is the backbone of the social Web. With Defensio, embedded links can be filtered by category, user contributions can be curtailed based on source reputation, and potentially harmful scripts and executable files can optionally be stripped from posted material. A dictionary-based filtering mechanism also helps reduce liability by making it possible to block potentially private or otherwise sensitive data, as well as content that could be considered defamatory or inflammatory.

Defensio for personal use – – Defensio Web service for filtering comment spam and malware is available free of charge for personal use. A simple, Web services plugin, Defensio adapts to the site content and users’ habits in a personalized way. This means that no two users will see Defensio react in precisely the same way, even for similar comments, which is a good thing -- because one person's ham might be another person's spam. A continuously evolving set of algorithms and real-time input from the ThreatSeeker Network ensure that spammers and cyber-criminals never gain the upper hand.

Defensio for commercial use – Defensio Web service for commercial users will be offered as a six month trial at no cost.

Develop to Defensio – Websense encourages Web 2.0 application developers to integrate Defensio’s powerful anti-spam and anti-malware capabilities into their applications with an easy-to-use public API that can manage traffic from any application that accepts user-generated content that might be subject to spam, malicious or objectionable content.
